ADDING COLOR AND PERSONALITY TO AN EAST NASHVILLE NEW BUILD
Designing The Curated Collective was all about bringing vibrancy, personality, and a touch of playful sophistication to a blank-slate home. Located in Nashville, TN, this project focused on transforming the downstairs of a brand-new build for a young woman moving into her first home.
FROM WHITE WALLS TO COLOR-FILLED ROOMS
Like many new constructions, this home started with an all-white interior and very little character. My client was craving color, warmth, and individuality, and that became our driving design vision. Since the downstairs had an open floor plan, we had to be thoughtful about how and where we introduced color so the spaces flowed visually without clashing.
One of the biggest challenges was managing overlapping wall planes. With so many walls visible from multiple angles, we had to be strategic about what we did and didn’t paint to avoid awkward transitions and color "bleed" between rooms. Every color placement was intentional.
STATEMENT PIECES THAT SPEAK
In the living room, a deep green couch became the foundation of the color story. We layered in a pink rug, a fun acrylic coffee table, and a gallery wall that combined vibrant travel photos, modern prints, and deeply personal pieces like artwork from her college and snapshots from meaningful vacations.
The entryway makes an instant impact with a bold console table and colorful artwork, setting the tone for the rest of the home. We also styled a chic bar area with eclectic glassware and playful decor to add a pop of personality.
ECLECTIC, MODERN AND COLORFUL
This project was a great example of how even a brand-new home can be completely transformed with intentional color, creative styling, and design that reflects your story. The final result is an eclectic, modern space filled with joyful energy, and most importantly, it feels like her.
