THE JUNEBUG

Some projects hold a special place in your heart, and this nursery was one of them. Designed for my best friend’s first daughter, June, this room was especially meaningful to bring to life. The goal was to create a space that felt soft, feminine, and full of charm without feeling overly girly, a nursery that would feel just as lovely as she grows.

A FRESH TAKE ON PIECES THEY ALREADY LOVED

Rather than starting from scratch, we wanted to incorporate the wood crib and white dresser the family already owned from their first baby’s nursery. Giving these familiar pieces a fresh look felt like the perfect foundation for a room that was both personal and timeless.

We added traditional, timeless trimwork and a light pink subtle floral wallpaper to bring softness and character to the space. The combination feels classic and understated, creating a sweet backdrop without overwhelming the room.

SOFT NEUTRALS AND THOUGHTFUL DETAILS

The palette is light and airy, layered with whites, soft pinks, natural wood, and warm brown accents. A white linen rocking chair creates a cozy spot for quiet moments, while the light wood crib keeps the room feeling warm and inviting.

To balance the delicate wallpaper, we incorporated a few organic accents, including a flower-detailed brass lamp, a brown vase filled with faux white hydrangeas, and a wavy wood mirror. These pieces add texture and warmth while keeping the overall look feeling collected and simple.

MEANINGFUL DETAILS THAT MAKE IT PERSONAL

One of my favorite details in the nursery is the beetle watercolor artwork, painted by June’s grandmother. Incorporating something handmade by a family member made the room feel even more special and gave the design a story beyond the furnishings and finishes.

A NURSERY DESIGNED TO GROW WITH HER

We wanted June’s nursery to have the ability to grow with her over time. A room that works for a newborn and a teenager. By keeping the larger pieces neutral and layering in personality through wallpaper, natural textures, and accessories, the room feels distinctly feminine without being somewhere that would only work for a baby.

It was such a joy to design this space for someone so special to me. Every detail was chosen with love.
