HYDRANGEA POWDER BATH

A Bright and Charming Powder Bath Makeover

This bathroom remodel was such a fun project to work on, and it’s one of those transformations that proves just how much impact a small space can have on the feel of an entire home.

When this family reached out, they described their downstairs powder bath as a dark, cave-like “dungeon” that seemed to pull the light right out of the main floor. It felt heavy, dated, and totally disconnected from the bright, welcoming style that defined the rest of their home. They wanted this space to feel refreshed, full of personality, and much more aligned with the aesthetic they loved.

As with every project, we began by gathering inspiration. I asked them to send photos of any rooms, color palettes, or patterns they were drawn to. The moment I saw their favorites, I knew exactly where we were headed: a Grand Millennial-inspired design filled with charm, color, and a touch of nostalgia.

The anchor of the entire design became a gorgeous Rifle Paper Co. wallpaper they instantly fell in love with. It struck the perfect balance—playful but not overwhelming, classic but still fresh. From there, the rest of the space began to take shape naturally.

To brighten the room and make it feel more open, we chose a beautiful white vanity with a white marble countertop, adding a clean, crisp base to the patterned walls. We updated every finish to polished brass, creating warmth and a subtle vintage feel that complements the Grand Millennial aesthetic. These brass details added just the right amount of shine without feeling overdone.

One of my favorite details in the room is the Ballard Designs blue mirror, which instantly became the statement piece of the space. It ties together the colors in the wallpaper while adding an unexpected and delightful pop all on its own.

By fully wallpapering the room and thoughtfully layering in the vanity, finishes, and accessories, the transformation was dramatic. What was once a dark, forgotten corner of the home is now a bright, uplifting, personality-filled powder bath that brings so much charm to the entire downstairs.

This project is a perfect example of how even small rooms can make a big impact with the right design choices. Powder baths are one of the best places to be bold - whether that’s color, pattern, or a fun mix of both.

If you’re thinking about giving one of your own small spaces a refresh, I’d love to help bring your vision to life and create a transformation you’ll be excited to show off.
