Rooted in a modern transitional aesthetic, this living room blends timeless furnishings, rich textures, and thoughtfully layered colors to create a space that feels elevated yet approachable. Every piece was selected with intention, resulting in a room that is as functional for everyday living as it is beautiful.

STARTING WITH INSPIRATION

Every great design begins with inspiration.

Before selecting furniture, finishes, or paint colors, we start by gathering inspiration photos that help define the overall look and feel of the space. These images become the foundation for the design process, allowing us to identify common themes, colors, textures, and styles that resonate most with our clients.

Inspiration photos do more than showcase beautiful rooms, they help communicate a vision. For this living room, the inspiration centered around warm, collected interiors that felt both sophisticated and comfortable. Rich color, layered textures, custom millwork, and inviting furnishings all became key elements that guided the design. The deep blue velvet sofa, warm cognac seating, curated accessories, and thoughtfully styled built-ins were all influenced by the visual cues found in the inspiration images.

A SOPHISTICATED MIX OF COLOR AND TEXTURE

One of the most striking elements of this design is its carefully curated color palette. Rich sapphire blue, warm cognac, soft blush, creamy neutrals, and subtle black accents come together to create a room that feels balanced, inviting, and full of character.

Rather than relying on a single dominant color, the design layers complementary tones throughout the space, allowing each element to contribute to the overall warmth and depth of the room. The result is a palette that feels collected over time rather than overly coordinated.

WARM CONTRAST THROUGH CURVED ACCENT SEATING

Across from the sofa, a sculptural cognac swivel chair introduces warmth and visual balance. Its curved silhouette softens the room's clean lines while adding an inviting layer of texture and movement.

The warm caramel tones create a beautiful contrast against the blue upholstery, adding depth and helping the seating arrangement feel dynamic and thoughtfully curated.

THE STATEMENT BLUE VELVET SOFA

Anchoring the room is a stunning blue velvet sofa that immediately draws the eye. Its deep jewel tone introduces richness and sophistication while the plush upholstery adds softness and comfort.

CUSTOM BUILT-INS WITH PRESENCE

One of the most impactful features of this design is the custom built-in cabinetry that frames the television wall and extends around the doorway. Finished in a soft neutral tone, the built-ins provide both architectural interest and practical storage.

Open shelving offers the opportunity to display books, artwork, and collected décor, while concealed cabinetry keeps everyday items neatly tucked away. The millwork adds a sense of permanence and craftsmanship, elevating the entire room and creating a beautiful focal point beyond the furnishings themselves.

Trailing greenery, decorative accessories, and carefully styled shelves introduce warmth and organic texture, making the built-ins feel curated and lived-in.
