Inspired by vintage charm and traditional design, we layered classic patterns, natural materials, and meaningful details to create a room that feels warm, inviting, and thoughtfully curated. Every selection was made with longevity in mind, resulting in a nursery that balances beauty, comfort, and everyday function.
A CHARMING NURSERY DESIGNED FOR BABY
There is something so special about designing a nursery. It's a space that welcomes a new chapter, filled with thoughtful details, meaningful keepsakes, and timeless design that will grow alongside a family.
After having the opportunity to design The Tailored Living Room, I was honored when these wonderful clients invited me back to create a nursery for their first baby. Our goal was to design a room that felt classic, cozy, and full of personality, a space that blended traditional elements with playful touches while remaining functional for everyday life.
A CLASSIC FOUNDATION WITH PLAID
Every beautiful room starts with a strong foundation, and for this nursery, the plaid wallpaper immediately set the tone. Its timeless pattern brings a sense of warmth and sophistication while adding just the right amount of preppy charm. The soft blue palette creates a calming atmosphere that's perfect for a baby's room while remaining classic enough to enjoy for years to come.
The wallpaper serves as the backdrop for the entire design, allowing every carefully selected detail to shine without overwhelming the space.
A BRASS CRIB TAKES CENTER STAGE
The brass crib naturally becomes the focal point of the room, adding warmth and elegance against the soft plaid walls. Styled with floral accent pillows, a cozy teddy bear, and layered neutral bedding, the crib feels both polished and inviting.
Custom felt French bulldog wall decor adds a meaningful personal touch. These thoughtful details make the nursery feel uniquely theirs while adding charm and character throughout the room.
LAYERED TEXTURES FOR A COZY FEEL
One of my favorite aspects of this nursery is the mix of natural textures that create warmth and depth.
A woven rattan floor lamp brings organic texture into the space, while coordinating rattan baskets styled atop the baby blue dresser offer both beautiful storage and visual balance. Accessories like a sweet rocking horse displayed on stacked books and a classic cream table lamp add layers of personality without feeling cluttered.
These collected pieces help create a nursery that feels lived in, comfortable, and thoughtfully curated.
WHIMSICAL TOUCHES FOR CHILDHOOD
Every nursery deserves a little bit of whimsy.
Suspended above the crib, a handcrafted felt puppy mobile introduces playful movement and gentle texture while celebrating childhood in a subtle, timeless way. Rather than relying on loud themes or overly trendy décor, this charming accent adds personality while complementing the room's classic design.
It's one of those small details that brings warmth and joy to the space without competing with the overall aesthetic.

One of the goals throughout this project was creating a nursery that feels timeless rather than trendy.
